Concord Kokondo Instructors

 

Sensei Johanna Glazer has trained in Kokondo martial arts with Master Daniel Cohen since 1990, beginning as a freshman at Brandeis University. She holds the rank of Nidan (second degree black belt) and the title of Sensei in both Kokondo Karate and Jukido Jujitsu,  making her one of the senior women teachers of Kokondo worldwide.  She has been a member of the Yudanshakai (Black Belt Association) since 1993 where she also studies from Shihan Paul Arel.  From 1994-1996 she was the co-Chief Instructor of Kokondo at Brandeis University. In 1995, Shihan Arel presented Sensei Glazer with a plaque of special recognition for her commitment and contributions to the Kokondo system.  She has taught numerous women’s self-defense and safety seminars at many schools and universities, and taught Kokondo at the Taunton, MA State Hospital and the Judge Connolly Youth Center.  As the founder and Chief Instructor of the Concord-Carlisle Adult Education Kokondo program since the 1990’s, she directly impacts the community through clinics as well as on-going Jukido Jujitsu classes. She and her Concord students participate annually in international Kokondo seminars, and one of her students completed original research in 2006 on the diversity and contributions of women in Kokondo.  She holds an M.A. in education and is a history teacher at Concord-Carlisle High School. 
Sensei Len Glazer has been studying martial arts for 25 years.  He commenced training in Okinawan Karate in 1982 and has been studying Kokondo martial arts with Master Dan Cohen since 1990 at the Brandeis University Kokondo Academy.  Sensei Glazer currently holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Jukido Jujitsu, a 1st Degree black belt in Kokondo Karate and is a certified instructor of both arts.  He also continues to train as a member of the Kokondo Yudanshakai (Black Belt Association) under Shihan Arel and at International seminars.  He has taught Kokondo programs at Camp Ramah in NY, at the Cambridge School in Weston, MA and served from 1994-1996 as the co-Chief Instructor of the Brandeis Dojo. In 1993, Sensei Glazer conducted an extended seminar with Master Cohen to introduce Jukido Jujitsu in Israel.   Mr. Glazer often incorporates his academic and professional background in Psychology with his martial arts teaching and training. He has taught physical intervention and crisis prevention to mental health professionals in psychiatric hospitals in the Boston area. He has also taught Kokondo at inpatient psychiatric facilities across the Northeast.   He is a Brandeis graduate with Doctoral study in Clinical Psychology.  Professionally he works as a Senior Physician Product Specialist for MEDITECH.
Aside from their professional and martial arts achievements, Johanna and Len Glazer are deeply involved in their community and are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Joshua and Samantha.
